Dear Mr. Gibson,

My name is John Stanz. I am a SSgt. with 2nd MSOB that was in an incident with an I.E.D. this past August. I awoke from my coma in Philadelphia at the beginning of october. I received the Eagle Head Cane that you had carved. I'm sorry that it took so long to write this email but I have been going from therapy to therapy since waking up. Apparently someone thought that after 6 weeks of a coma I would be well rested to run run run. :) But, I wanted to write and say Thank You Very Much for the cane! It is a beautiful piece of art work. I am past the point of needing assistance with walking now, but when I was first re-learning to walk it came in quite handy. And as I've implied before I am very much into art and respect and admire the beauty of this cane. When I was younger and in Boy Scouts, I learned widowing enough to earn my tote-n-cit and it became a bit of a hobby through my teenage years, so I understand the great deal of work needed to create such a master piece.

I am doing much better with my injuries, my parents said that some of you came to the hospital in Bethesda while I was in a coma. I also thank you guys for that. It's great for my parents to see that there are people in this country standing with them. I know that I've said this several times, but I want to emphasize to you and your entire association, Thank You Very Much!! If I can do anything for you or your group, you need only to ask. And please tell everyone in your association I said Thank You as well.

Sincerely,

John J. Stanz  USMC/Recon
